وَلَمand did not نَحفِلwe pay heed بِأَحداثِto the events of الدُهورِthe ages
وَلَم نَحفِل بِأَحداثِ الدُهورِ

We drank, young and old alike
And paid no heed to the events of the ages.
Paying no mind to the turns of time

وَقَد طِرنا بِأَجنِحَةِ السُرورِ
And the horses of revelry had galloped with us.
Joy's steeds raced us along
And we had flown on the wings of joy.
On wings of bliss we soared
