    Say to the swaying branch of the bān tree,

    beneath night's full moon and above the sand dune:

    I sought to conceal what was in my heart, but it was revealed by

    sighs that envelop the air's murmur,

    and tears that say upon my cheek, “O you who

    feign weeping—this is how one weeps!”

    زادَ فيهِ هَواكَ جَفني اِمتِلاء

    There is no room for others in my heart;

    love for you within it has made my eyes brim still more.
