دعوت بأن لا يجمع الله بينكم

دعوت بأن لا يجمع الله بينكم

وأن لا تدانيه بدنيا ولا أخرى

وأن لا تدانيه بدنيا ولا أخرى

You prayed that God would not bring you together,

I prayed that Allah would not bring you together,

and that you would not draw near him in this world or the next.

And that worldly life and the hereafter would not unite you.

فاما لقا الدنيا فخفه فربما

فاما لقا الدنيا فخفه فربما

كفى سيفه الإسلام في وجهك الشرا

كفى سيفه الإسلام في وجهك الشرا

As for meeting in this world, fear him; perhaps

As for this worldly life, disdain it, for perhaps

his sword will spare Islam evil in confronting you.

The sword of Islam facing you will suffice.

وليس دعاء الكافرين لربهم

وليس دعاء الكافرين لربهم

وإن طال إلا في ضلال كما يقرا

وإن طال إلا في ضلال كما يقرا

And the unbelievers' prayer to their Lord is,

The prayers of disbelievers to their Lord,

however long it lasts, only in vain, as is recited.

No matter how long, lead only to misguidance, as is known.

وأما لقا الأخرى فأين جهنم

وأما لقا الأخرى فأين جهنم

وأنت بها منه وجنته الخضرا

وأنت بها منه وجنته الخضرا

As for meeting in the next life, how far is Hell—

As for the hereafter, where is Hell

with you in it—from him and his verdant Garden?

While you are in it, away from His Paradise?

وقوله إني عنه بالله في غنى

وقوله إني عنه بالله في غنى

فما أحد منهم بما قلت مغترا

فما أحد منهم بما قلت مغترا

And his saying, 'Through God, I have no need of him'—

And his saying that with Allah he is self-sufficient -

none of them is deceived by what you said.

No one who says this is deceived.

غناك بغير الله والله عالم

غناك بغير الله والله عالم

ولكن ما أوفيت مغنيك الشكرا

ولكن ما أوفيت مغنيك الشكرا

Your self-sufficiency comes from someone other than God, and God knows;

Other than Allah has made you self-sufficient, and Allah knows best,

but you have not fully thanked the one who enriched you.

But you have not thanked your provider.

فلو كنت مستغن بربك لم تكن

فلو كنت مستغن بربك لم تكن

تصدق أعداه وتوسعه كفرا

تصدق أعداه وتوسعه كفرا

For if your Lord were all you needed, you would not

If you were self-sufficient through your Lord, you would not

believe his enemies and heap unbelief upon him.

Give charity to enemies and facilitate disbelief.
