I came upon two verses among the most ponderous poetry.
I stood upon two verses of the heaviest poetry
In them, a Muslim by coercion deemed unbelief better.
The disbeliever saw good in them, the Muslim saw oppression

Disavowing all you said, all of it
with praise and thanks to the God of all worlds.
Praising the God of all worlds and thanking

You deceived Ahmad, son of Ismaʿil, for a time,
You tricked Ahmad ibn Ismail a while
and made him swallow ill fortune more bitter than aloes.
And made him drink terrible evil with patience

Then you came to Ismaʿil, seeking to deceive him;
And you came to Ismail seeking to trick him

An enemy to Him, tempting about His religion
