رضيتك مولاتي وارضيتني عبدا

رضيتك مولاتي وارضيتني عبدا

وأمسى مملوكا فمن يحفظ الودا

وأمسى مملوكا فمن يحفظ الودا

I accepted you as my mistress, and you made me content as a slave.

You have pleased me, my Lord, and I am pleased to be Your servant,

And he became a bondsman—who, then, will preserve affection?

And I have become Your possession, so who will preserve intimacy?

فإن صح لي هذا وأمسيت ملككم

فإن صح لي هذا وأمسيت ملككم

فقد بلغت نفسي بك المنَّ والقصدا

فقد بلغت نفسي بك المنَّ والقصدا

So if this holds true for me, and I have become your possession,

If this becomes true for me, and I become your subject,

then through you my soul has attained bounty and its goal.

Then I will have attained from You favor and purpose.

فقالت نعم أرضى وأهلا ومرحباً

فقالت نعم أرضى وأهلا ومرحباً

فما مثل هذا العبد يستأهل الردا

فما مثل هذا العبد يستأهل الردا

Then she said, “Yes, I consent; welcome, welcome!

She said “Yes, I am pleased and welcome.”

For a slave like this does not deserve rejection.”

No slave deserves rejection like this.

لك الحمدُ ياربي بلغت بها المنى

لك الحمدُ ياربي بلغت بها المنى

لك الحمد حمداً ليس يحصى له عدا

لك الحمد حمداً ليس يحصى له عدا

Praise be to You, my Lord; through her I have attained my wishes.

All praise to You my Lord, I have attained my wish,

Praise be to You—praise beyond all counting.

Endless praise to You that cannot be counted.

فلما بدا لي حسنها وجمالها

فلما بدا لي حسنها وجمالها

ولهت فلم الق من عشقها بدا

ولهت فلم الق من عشقها بدا

Then, when her loveliness and beauty appeared to me,

When her beauty and charm appeared to me,

I was love-struck, and found no escape from loving her.

I became distracted, unable to find any alternative to loving her.

فملكتها روحي ومالي ومهجتي

فملكتها روحي ومالي ومهجتي

وأصفيتها مني المحبة والودا

وأصفيتها مني المحبة والودا

So I gave her possession of my soul, my wealth, and my lifeblood.

She possessed my soul, my money and my mind,

And I bestowed on her my sincere love and affection.

And I purified for her my love and intimacy.
