ولاnor بضربin a blow شفاhealed صدراa breast منof العللailments
Glory lies not in thrusting with slender, swaying spears,
What pride is there in blaming the withered honeybee
nor in a blow that heals a breast of its ailments.
Or striking a chest already sick with illnesses?
الفخرglory أنthat تملكmasters الإنسانa man سطوتهhis might
والغيظwhile anger يغلىboils كغليlike the boiling of المرجلa cauldron الرجلseething
Glory is when a man masters his own might,
True pride is to master your own tyranny
while anger boils like a seething cauldron,
As rage boils like the boiling of a steaming pot.

and when he trades the shackles he removes
And if fetters are replaced
for collars of favor round a valiant horseman's neck.
With bracelets from the neck of the heroic knight.

ماnot أنتyou بالنفخby blowing ملقcasting down قلةthe summit الجبلof the mountain
O you who use my hand's bounty to harm me,
O you who depend on my crime to favor you
you will not topple a mountain's summit by blowing.
You are not worth blowing on to move a little mountain.

If a favor of mine has left you unable to repay it,
If my hand fails to reward you
then you are still less able to assault me or kill me by treachery.
Then you are too weak against my might and scheming.
حملتyou incited بعضيsome of mine علىagainst بعضothers مخادعةdeceitfully

You deceitfully set some of my people against others,
I pretended to agree with myself for a while
until the tended herd mingled with the strays.
Until the pasture mixed with the salty silt.

You rose among them, relying on ill judgment,
I rose up against them with my bad opinion, steadfast,
and set about striking a mountain of might with stratagems,
And stood firm, scheming to topple the mighty mountain.

like one butting a solid rock to split it,
Like one butting against deaf rock to crack it
yet only the ibex's skull is split.
Yet it cracks not except by the ibex's skull.

You embarked on a grave act that would permit
I undertook a great matter, which justifies
a youth's father, when ruling, to shed his blood with impunity.
A father shedding the blood of his long-hoped-for son.

You contested my kingship, and my hand subdued you,
You disputed my rule and my hand seized you
and death's scout preceded the bright swords and spears.
While the guide of death precedes the eggs and newborns.

I would not have spared you had forbearance not overtaken me,
I would not have spared you were it not for my forbearance,
while you looked toward me with a coward's gaze.
As you looked at me with defeated eyes.

وقلتand I said أيwhat فخارglory أنthat قتلتكI killed you ليfor me
So I kept my sword unstained, and my hand refrained from your blood,
So I sheathed my sword and spared your blood,
and said, 'What glory would killing you bring me?'
Saying: what pride if I killed you now?

Such folly—I nobly keep my blades from its practitioners,
Ignorant am I to protect the gazelle from its family out of nobility
and sheath my sword, paying them no heed.
And sheathe the sword around them heedlessly,
وعاذلand a reproacher رامsought تلبيساobscuring علىupon شيميmy traits

And a reproacher sought to cloud my character,
And he who schemed to trick me into dishonoring my manners
but I did not obey him: what has a noble man to do with reproach?
I did not obey him, for the free and noble have no shame.

He said, 'Take revenge and soothe your anger.' I said, 'What keeps me
He said "take revenge and quench your rage," I said "It stops me
from obeying you is what I have set right in my deeds.'
From obeying you, what I already repaired of my deeds."

Another is indeed swayed by desire and carried
Except to turn it, alas! Passion and to bear it,
by a companion's judgment on error's saddled mount.
The view of the wise companion on slippery slopes.

O builder of praise, you have made its price high,
O scattered praise, I have cooked its price
inclining toward one who shuns praise when it grows costly.
Inclined towards one ascetic in praise when it boils.

Indeed, I disdain to watch for chances against them,
I disdain to wait in ambush for them
only to seize them as spoils in haste.
Until I seize them as easy prey in haste.

Instead, I grant mercy and spare them if they return
Rather I shelter and hold back, so if they return
to uprightness; otherwise, the sword is in the breaches.
To righteousness, otherwise the sword is in the breach.

فانتfor you تدركattain ماwhat تبغيyou seek علىat مهلleisure

For no strong man fears missing his chance; walk confidently,
One who fears missing out, go slowly,
for you will attain what you seek at leisure.
For you will attain what you seek gently.

I shall surely be kind while they are abased before me,
I will treat them well while they are under my protection,
even if they did wrong when hope lay wide open to them.
But if they do evil while in the spaciousness of hope,

فبالمكارمfor through noble deeds تغلوrises قيمةthe worth الرجلof a man
Leave me to my own nature; you will find rest and give rest,
Leave me and my soul's morals to rest and relax
for noble deeds make a man's worth rise.
For with nobility, the value of a man excels.

Today I shall forgive a sin deemed enormous
Today I forgive a sin that
by someone else, and show forbearance that is not feigned.
Others magnified, and show clemency beyond imitation.

For God's favors lie upon our necks,
For God has against our necks from us,
through them we tend creation with compassionate, anxious care.
Morals with which we shepherd people like a anxious warrior.

We are the kings; ask about us in the East and West,
We are the kings, so ask in both horizons about us,
and follow our traces through the earliest ages.
And follow our footsteps in ancient eras.

You will find the proud men's legacy of glory is ours,
You will find the prideful traces of us kings
borne from of old to my noble forefathers and to me.
Carried forward to my noble forefathers and I.

We ruled over kings and led every arrogant man
We blocked the way for kings and guided every insolent one
among mankind, and set them straight from crookedness.
From the open country and protected our dependents.

We were kings while the mother of time suckled
in our lap, and the earth's kings were like servants.
In our laps, and the kings of earth were like calves.

When a king of ours passes, a king appears
Whenever a king among us passed away
from his offspring, neither a coward nor a weakling.
A king appeared from his lineage other than fleeting or vanishing.

ملكkingship طريفnewly acquired كملكlike kingship تالدinherited أزلىimmemorial
A distinction granted to us alone among kings—and is
Special virtue we were particularized with over kings - is there
newly acquired kingship like inherited, immemorial kingship?
A fine kingship like the eternal rule of Ta'lab?

So praise be to God; I cannot count His blessings,
So praise be to God - I cannot enumerate praise enough for Him
praise with which I repay His favors toward me.
To reward His blessings before me.
