على الصحابة أهل الفضل والنسب

Why did they give precedence to the non-Arabs, if the report is so,

over the Companions, people of virtue and lineage?

إذ قدموا الآل من بعد النبي إذا

صلوا عليه على أصحابه النجب

صلوا عليه على أصحابه النجب

For they placed the Family, after the Prophet, whenever

they invoked blessings upon him, before his noble Companions.

آل النبي هم أبنا أبيه كما

The Prophet's family are his father's sons—such

is the well-known doctrine among the Arabs.

وألحقوا بهم حفظا لعهدهم

أبناء مطلب في حرمة النسب

أبناء مطلب في حرمة النسب

And they joined to them, in honor of their covenant,

the sons of Muttalib in the sanctity of kinship.

قربى الكفور مع الإسلام قد نفيت

ما ابن على الكفر باق وارث لأب

ما ابن على الكفر باق وارث لأب

Kinship with the unbeliever has been nullified under Islam;

no son who persists in unbelief inherits from a father.

فارجع وراءك مغلوبا فليس لكم

فارجع وراءك مغلوبا فليس لكم

عذر من الله في ذكرى أبي لهب

عذر من الله في ذكرى أبي لهب

So turn back the way you came, defeated, for you have no

excuse from God in the remembrance of Abu Lahab.
