You are not in a position where a man need fear

a plot reaching him from an envious man.

So no slanderer hopes to have

any influence or effect on our opinion of you.

Yours is loyal counsel; your later generations have done

for us through it what the earlier generations did.

So what you claim on its strength is not denied:

a bond of honor whose cord is joined by affection.

Your souls were fashioned to obey us

long ago; one's nature is a thing that does not change.

So strike with our swords whatever strays from you, and command

whomever you wish, and forbid: the sword's command is obeyed.

And shoot the foes with arrows: you never loose them

without hitting the mark, and Glory says, 'May your hand never be palsied!'

And enter the wars whose garments have turned black,

so that you return while they wear robes of blood.

For we are, in your right hand when you strike,

an Indian blade, against which one's allotted lifespan is no fortress.

Our keen swords have learned from our gifts,

so their bounty of death among the foes comes in heaps.

    وإِن وهبنا فلا فَقرٌ له رجلُ

    When we strike, no head is left with a neck;

and if we give, poverty has no leg to stand on.

So triumph through them, O son of Qutb, and press on to what

you were commanded to do in them: their bitter sap ends in honey.

And admonish with your counsel anyone whose soul finds too narrow

the paths to sincere counsel in obedience to us.

And you have high standing with us, and are trusted; so trust

in what expectation and hope promise on our behalf.

For you are unfailingly strong-backed if they weaken,

and unfailingly faithful by nature if they deceive.
