هنا الجود أضحى ثاويا وهنا المجد

فليتك تدرى ما تضمنت يالحد

Here generosity has come to rest, and here lies glory.

If only you knew what you have enclosed, O grave!

لقد حل فيك العلم والحلم والنهى

وحسن السجايا والعطا الجم والحمد

Indeed, knowledge, forbearance, and reason have settled within you,

And goodness of character, abundant giving, and praise.

وأصبح فيك الجود بعد رواحه

ومغداه ثاو لا يورح ولا يغدو

And generosity, now within you after its evening journeys

And its morning journeys, lies at rest, going out neither at evening nor at dawn.

سلام على هذا الضريح الذي حوى

خليفة عصر ماله في الورى ند

Peace be upon this tomb, which holds

A caliph of his age, with no peer among humankind.

جزعنا عليه وارعوينا لعلمنا

بأن قضاء الله ليس له رد

We grieved for him and restrained ourselves, knowing

That God's decree cannot be turned back.

فيارب اكرم وافداً كان سوحه

لنا موردا عذبا به يكرم الوفد

So, O Lord, honor a guest whose courtyards were

For us a sweet watering place, where delegations were honored.

وقابله بالفضل الذي أنت أهله

وبالجود والمن بالذي ماله عد

And receive him with the grace that befits You,

And with generosity and beneficence beyond all counting.
