O you who, with your openhanded bounty, stir up
O You who gently stirs with Your generosity
clouds that return to me with their abundant rain,
Clouds that bring life-giving rain back to me
ارفقbe gentle بعبدكwith your servant واسقهand give him drink متمهلاtaking your time
ارفق بعبدك واسقه متمهلا
إنif قامhe rises يستسقيكasks you for water مالاwealth يغرقhe drowns
إن قام يستسقيك مالا يغرق
be gentle with your servant, and give him drink slowly;
Be gentle with Your servant, and water him slowly
if he rises to seek a shower of wealth from you, he will drown.
If he stands to beseech You, lest he drown
فيin نصفhalf of نصفhalf of النصفthe half مماof what جدتyou generously gave ليto me
في نصف نصف النصف مما جدت لي
أضعافmany times ماwhat أرجوI hope for وماand what أناI أنفقspend
أضعاف ما أرجو وما أنا أنفق
In half of half of half of what you gave me
In half of half of half what You have granted me
is many times what I hope for and what I spend.
Is more than I hope for or spend
منwhoever كانwas لاnot يرضىsatisfies عطاهhis gift فأنتthen you منone who
من كان لا يرضى عطاه فأنت من
يرضىsatisfies ببعضwith a fraction of البعضthe fraction منone who لاnot يرزقis given sustenance
يرضى ببعض البعض من لا يرزق
If anyone's gifts fail to satisfy, you are one
For one who is not content with Your gift, it is You
who, with a fraction of a fraction, satisfies one without sustenance.
Who is content with some for one who earns no livelihood
