أبدا يزيد حضرتم أو غبتم
My longing for you, like my ardor for you,
My longing for you is like my love for you
Forever grows, whether you are present or absent.
It always increases whether you are present or absent

والجسم أضنى والمدامع سجّم
The heart is as ardent as can be for union with you,
And my heart becomes tenderer towards your connection
And the body utterly wasted, while tears stream down.
While my body becomes emaciated and my tears flow

The east wind's coolness—the fire blazing in my heart.
The morning breeze kindled a fire in my heart

No, but the anxiety of yearning for you
The heart's restless yearning for you.
Does not settle in the heart which resides in the heart

For longing gladdens me, while my fate holds me captive;
So longing makes me perplexed while my fate imprisons me
The heart ascends to Najd, while the limbs descend to Tihamah.
And my heart calls for help while my limbs accuse
