ربعا لأهل ودادي

May the persistent morning showers water

a dwelling of those I love,

واديه أطيب وادي

a dwelling at the foot of al-Musalla,

whose valley is the sweetest of valleys.

أسري اليه وشوقي

حادىّ والذكر زادي

حادىّ والذكر زادي

I travel to it by night, and my longing

is my camel-driver, and remembrance my provision.

وان ضلت هداني

وان ضلت هداني

من طيب ريّاه هادي

من طيب ريّاه هادي

And if I stray, I am guided

by a guide from its sweet fragrance.

يا أهل ودى وانهى

يا أهل ودى وانهى

قصدى وانس مرادي

قصدى وانس مرادي

O my loved ones, the ultimate goal

of my quest and delight of my desire,

بنتم فوجدي عليكم

بنتم فوجدي عليكم

باق ليوم المعاد

باق ليوم المعاد

you have departed, and my yearning for you

endures until the Day of Return.

وحقّ طيب التلاقي

وحقّ طيب التلاقي

وحسن عهد الوداد

وحسن عهد الوداد

By the sanctity of sweet reunion,

and the beauty of love’s covenant,

لم يعرف الصبر عنكم

لم يعرف الصبر عنكم

ولا الهدو فؤادي

ولا الهدو فؤادي

it has never known patience apart from you,

nor repose—my heart.

ان كان قلبي سلاكم

ان كان قلبي سلاكم

فلا ارتوى منه صادي

فلا ارتوى منه صادي

If my heart has forgotten you,

then may no thirsty one drink their fill from it.

وان أردت سواكم

وان أردت سواكم

فلا بلغت مرادي

فلا بلغت مرادي

And if I desire anyone but you,

then may I never attain my desire.

ما أملك الميل عنكم

يا مالكين قيادي

يا مالكين قيادي

I have no power to turn away from you,

O you who hold my reins.
