Your bounty has indeed become, with me, a herald
Your blessings have become monuments for me
Of your name in a thriving marketplace of praise.
Praising you in a market of gratitude
وَقَدْand perhaps يُعْجِبُdelights الرَّوْضَthe meadow الأَنِيقُlovely وَإِنّماyet only

And the lovely meadow may delight, yet it only
A beautiful garden may impress, but it only
Points to the bounty of the abundant rain.
Shows the virtue of accumulated goodness

You have overwhelmed me with bounty and special favor; for only
You have flooded me with gifts and favor, yet
Gleaming, keen-edged swords are adorned and treasured.
Every stern white is sweetened and ripened
وَلَسْتُand I am not عَلَىto عَلْياكَyour exalted station أَوَّلَthe first وافِدٍvisitor

And I am not the first to come to your exalted station,
I am not the first to come to your heights
Nor am I the first to gain from your bounty.
Nor the first to seize your rewards

And I have wished only to ennoble my speech
I only wished to honor my speech
By praising you, or discharge the debt owed for noble favors.
By praising you or fulfilling the noblest duties
