أَسْعَدَgrant good fortune اللهُGod بِالْمَسِيرِon the journey وَأَعْطىand grant
أَسْعَدَ اللهُ بِالْمَسِيرِ وَأَعْطى
فِيهِin it عَزْمَresolve الْوَزِيرِthe minister نَجْحاًsuccess وَنَصْراand victory
فِيهِ عَزْمَ الْوَزِيرِ نَجْحاً وَنَصْرا
May God grant good fortune on the journey, and grant
May God bless this journey, and grant
the minister’s resolve success and victory therein.
The minister’s determination success and victory,
وَحَباهُand bestow on him الْمُرادَwhat is desired فِيهِin it وَأَسْنىand make illustrious
وَحَباهُ الْمُرادَ فِيهِ وَأَسْنى
مِنْهُfrom it ذِكراًrenown يَبْقىthat endures وَأَعْلاهُand raise him قَدْراin rank
مِنْهُ ذِكراً يَبْقى وَأَعْلاهُ قَدْرا
And bestow on him his desire therein, and magnify
And endow it with all he desires, making
the lasting renown it brings, and raise him in rank.
It renowned forever, and raising it in esteem.
غَيْرُnot نُكرٍa strange thing أَنْthat تُدْرِكَyou attain الْحَظَّgood fortune فِيهِin it
غَيْرُ نُكرٍ أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْحَظَّ فِيهِ
كَمْhow many a هِلالٍcrescent moon قَدْindeed عادَhas become بِالسَّيْرِthrough travel بَدْراa full moon
كَمْ هِلالٍ قَدْ عادَ بِالسَّيْرِ بَدْرا
It is no wonder that you attain good fortune therein:
It is no surprise that in it good fortune is found,
How many a crescent has become a full moon through travel!
Like many a new moon that returned full through travel.
