O you who think that, through your composition

O you who thinks your poetry

of poetry, you have surpassed al-Ahwas:

Surpasses Al-Akhawas in skill

شعر تعقد لفظه

شعر تعقد لفظه

فكأنه شعر الخُصى

فكأنه شعر الخُصى

Verse whose wording has become tangled—

Your poetry's wording is complex

so it is like the hair of the testicles.

As if it were poetry of the deaf
