O you who possess the finest of everything,

And you whom tongues join together in praising,

And you whose single day of excellence

Surpasses a thousand years of our days,

And you in whose days Hama of Syria

Shines through justice like a beautiful bride:

I have racehorses from your bounty,

But, O emir, I have no sīsna (meaning uncertain).

Be generous with it; for every hair you will be granted

On their hides, a good deed from God.

For He is the Ever-Sustaining, never overtaken

By sleep or drowsiness as He watches over His servants.

And my verse has never ceased scattering upon you

    Fine jewels of praise.
