أياO مولايmy master ياO مولىlord العطاياthe gifts
أتيتI have come ذرىheights علاكyour eminence فلاso do not تذرنيabandon me
O my lord, O lord of bounties,
O my master, O lord of gifts,
I have come to the heights of your exalted station—do not forsake me.
I have come to the heights of your eminence, so do not abandon me.
غريباًas a stranger جئتI have come بابكyour door مستجيراseeking refuge
فمنso from جورtyranny الزمانtime إذاthen أجرنيshelter me
A stranger, I have come to your door seeking refuge;
A stranger, I have come to your door seeking refuge;
from the tyranny of time, then, grant me shelter.
So shelter me, then, from the tyranny of time.
وأخرنيand hold me back إلىuntil يومthe day المناياdeaths
وجرنيand draw me هنالكthere واختبرنيand test me
Grant me respite until the day of death,
And hold me back until the day of death,
and lead me there, and put me to the test.
And draw me there and put me to the test.
فإنso if أحجمتI shrink back فاصرفنيthen dismiss me سريعاًswiftly
وانand if كنتI am المقدمthe one who advances فادخرنيthen keep me in reserve
If I shrink back, turn me away at once;
So if I shrink back, dismiss me swiftly;
but if I am one who presses forward, keep me in reserve.
And if I am the one who advances, keep me in reserve.
