You were named Makki, and Mecca’s guardian
You are named Mecca's protector, though your heart is harsh towards us,
Is linked to your heart, so cruel to us.
And you count union with you as being drawn into its prey,
وجعلتand you made وصلكunion with you داخلاincluded فيin صيدهاits hunted game
وإناand indeed we لوصلكfor union with you ياO غزاليmy gazelle أرغبmore eager
And you made union with you part of its hunted game,
Yet I, my gazelle, for your union yearn far more
And we are more eager for union with you, O my gazelle.
So grace us with your lips, for they are from Zamzam's spring,
فاسمحso be generous بثغركwith your lips إنهfor it is منthan زمزمZamzam
ياO منyou who يعذبناtorments us الذmore delicious واعذبand sweeter
So be generous with your lips: compared with Zamzam, they are—
Oh you who torments us, yet is most sweet.
O you who torment us—more delicious and sweeter.
