خُنْbetray عَهْدَهاher pledge مثلَlike ماthe way that خَانَتْكَshe betrayed you مُنْتَصِفاًtaking your due
خُنْ عَهْدَها مثلَ ما خَانَتْكَ مُنْتَصِفاً
وامْنَحْand grant هَوَاهاlove for her بنسيانٍwith forgetfulness وسُلْوَانِand solace
وامْنَحْ هَوَاها بنسيانٍ وسُلْوَانِ
Break faith with her as she betrayed you, taking your due;
Break your promise as she broke hers midway
And grant your love for her forgetfulness and solace.
And grant her love with forgetfulness and peace
فالغِيْدُfor the slender beauties كالرَّوْضِlike a garden فيin خَلْقٍphysical form وفيand in خُلُقٍcharacter
فالغِيْدُ كالرَّوْضِ في خَلْقٍ وفي خُلُقٍ
إنْif مَرَّpasses جَانٍa fruit-picker أَتَىcomes مِنْfrom بَعْدِهِafter him جانِa fruit-picker
إنْ مَرَّ جَانٍ أَتَى مِنْ بَعْدِهِ جانِ
For slender beauties are like a garden in form and character:
For the branch is like the meadow in nature and manners
If one fruit-picker passes, another comes after him.
If a beloved passed, another will come after
