    فسرى يضمّخ حلة الظلماء

    It shunned the day for fear of the watchers;

    so it traveled by night, perfuming the robe of darkness.

    It folds its fragrance away from noses throughout its day,

    and lavishly reveals it in the darkness.

    Wanton by nature, yet veiling itself—

    and such are the traits of the refined.

    When it saw the noses' love for its music,

    it donned the deep darkness for fear of the watchers.

    Like a phantom, it does not reach eyelids, for they are wakeful,

    and wafts within them at the moment of falling asleep.
