And in you my soul seeks the ruin that love brings,
My soul in you seeks love's ardency
Even if the eye gathers rays of light from you.
If eyes from you take in your light's clarity
أُخْفِيI conceal هَواكَmy love for you وَأَكْنِيand I allude indirectly عنهto it تَوْرِيَةًthrough double meaning

I conceal my love for you and allude to it through double meanings;
I’ll hide this love and speak of it discreetly
And can one stricken at heart be blamed if he conceals it?
Can the heart's confidant be blamed for secrecy?
ياO مُشْبِهَyou who resemble المَلِكِthe king الجَعْدِيِّal-Jaʿdī تَسْمِيَةًin name
ومُخْجِلَand you who shame القمرِthe moon البَدْرِيِfull أَنْوَارَاin radiance
O you who resemble the Jaʿdī king in name,
O you who resemble the curly-haired kingly one
And who put the full moon to shame with your radiance.
And eclipse the full moon's illuminating aura
