عشقتfell in love with شمائلَهُhis virtues الوزارةُthe vizierate فاغتدتso it became
عشقت شمائلَهُ الوزارةُ فاغتدت
شوقاًlonging إليهfor him وعنand away from سواهanyone other than him تنفرُit recoils
شوقاً إليه وعن سواه تنفرُ
The vizierate fell in love with his virtues, and so became
Her graceful form enamored his ministers
full of longing for him, and recoiling from all others.
And made them long for him while from all else recoiling
ويجلُّand is more exalted عنهاthan it قَدرُهُhis stature معdespite أنّهاthat it
ويجلُّ عنها قَدرُهُ مع أنّها
لتجلُّsurely is more exalted قدراًin rank عنthan سواهanyone other than him وتكبرُand is greater
لتجلُّ قدراً عن سواه وتكبرُ
And his stature stands above it, although it
Yet his value dims in their eyes though it is they
surely stands above all others in rank, and is greater.
