وجهي يرِقُّ عن السؤا

ل وحالتي منه أَرق

My face is too delicate for beg—

My face shines from your question,

—ging, yet my plight is more delicate still.

And I'm made sleepless by it.

دقّت معاني الفضلِ فِيَّ

دقّت معاني الفضلِ فِيَّ

وحِرفتي مِنها أدَق

وحِرفتي مِنها أدَق

The qualities of merit within me are subtle,

The meanings of virtue pierced me,

and my livelihood is more tenuous still.

And my words about it - most precise.
