بيin me مثلُthe same as ماwhat بكin you ياO حمامَdove البانِthe ban tree
أناI بالقدودِfor slender figures وأنتَand you بالأغصانِfor boughs
I feel what you feel, O dove of the ban tree:
I'm like you, O dove, in the branches
I long for slender figures, and you for boughs.
I'm on the ground while you're in the boughs
أعِدِrepeat الترنُّمَthe singing كيفَhowever شئتَyou wish فإنّناfor indeed we
فيماin what نجِنُّwe harbor منof الهوىlove سِيّانِalike
Repeat your song however you wish, for we
Sing again however you wish, for we
are alike in the love we harbor.
Are alike in our love's agony
ليmine ماwhat رويتُI recited منof النسيبِlove poetry وإنّماand only
لكَyours فيهin it حقُّthe right to الشَّدوِsinging والألحانِand melodies
Mine is the love poetry I have recited; yours is only
I've told what was told me by my love
the right to its singing and melodies.
While you have the right to melody
