وإذاand when سخطتُI am displeased علىwith القوافيthe rhymes صغتُهاI fashion them
وإذا سخطتُ على القوافي صغتُها
فيabout غيرهِsomeone other than him لأُذلَّهاto abase them وأُهينهاand humiliate them
في غيرهِ لأُذلَّها وأُهينها
And when I am displeased with the rhymes, I fashion them
When I'm upset at meter, to another place I'll lead it,
about someone other than him, to abase them and humiliate them.
So I can humble it, belittle it and impede it,
وإذاand when رضيتُI am pleased نظمتُهاI compose them لجلالهfor his majesty
وإذا رضيتُ نظمتُها لجلاله
كيماso that أشرفَهاI may ennoble them بهthrough him وأزينهَاand adorn them
كيما أشرفَها به وأزينهَا
And when I am pleased, I compose them for his majesty,
But when content, for its greatness I will it thread,
so that I may ennoble them through him and adorn them.
To elevate and beautify it, and adorn instead.
