يبلبلُ منّي العقلَ صدغٌ مبلبلٌ

يبلبلُ منّي العقلَ صدغٌ مبلبلٌ

ويملكُ منّي القلبَ أغيدُ أسمرُ

ويملكُ منّي القلبَ أغيدُ أسمرُ

A tangled temple-lock throws my mind into turmoil;

A tousled temple-lock confounds my mind.

and the graceful, dusky one possesses my heart.

And a graceful, dark-complexioned one possesses my heart.

وقدٌّ كغصن البان يهتزّ مائداً

وقدٌّ كغصن البان يهتزّ مائداً

وخصرٌ على الرِّدفِ الثقيل مزنّرُ

وخصرٌ على الرِّدفِ الثقيل مزنّرُ

His figure, like a bough of the ben tree, trembles and sways;

And a figure like a bān-tree branch quivers as it sways.

and a waist, above the heavy haunches, is girdled.

And a girdled waist above heavy buttocks.

وخدٌّ أسيل تحت صدغٍ مشوَّشٍ

وخدٌّ أسيل تحت صدغٍ مشوَّشٍ

على طِرسهِ سَطرٌ من الحسن أخضرٌ

على طِرسهِ سَطرٌ من الحسن أخضرٌ

And a smooth cheek beneath a disordered temple-lock—

And a smooth cheek beneath a disheveled temple-lock.
