فصوصُ زمردٍّ في كيسِ درٍّ

حكَت أقماعُها تقليمَ ظُفرِ

Emerald gems in a pouch of pearls;

Emeralds in a pearl pouch -

Their calyxes resembled a fingernail clipping.

Their tips trimmed with care.

وقد خاط الربيعُ لها ثياباً

لها لونانِ من بِيضٍ وخُضرِ

And spring has sewn garments for them,
