You claim love, then forget the beloved;
You claim love, then forget the beloved

In your claim, you are nothing but a liar

Love is but a seizure that possesses the heart
Love takes hold of the heart completely
Entirely, leaving no portion untouched.
Leaving no place for another

And when a phantom of willful forgetting touches the heart,
When the heart is touched by forgetfulness
The sovereignty of its love is veiled.
Love's power becomes veiled
ليI have حَبِيبٌa beloved أجابنيanswered me ودعانيand called me
فلهso to him belongs الفَضلُthe grace داعياًas caller ومجيباand as responder
I have a beloved who answered me and called me;
I have a beloved who answered me and called me
So his is the grace, in calling and in answering.
To him is the merit, both caller and responder
إنindeed قُربيmy nearness غليهto him (apparent typo) غايةthe utmost extent بُعديmy distance

Indeed, my nearness to him is my utmost distance;
My nearness to him is the extent of my distance
So I see myself far from him, yet near.
So I see myself far, yet near

وحُضُوريand my presence أراهI see it عنيfrom myself مغيباmaking absent
So my abiding through him is my passing away from myself;
My being with him is my loss of self
And my presence, I see, makes me absent from myself.
And my presence, he sees as absent from me

O my heart, and O my tongue, both remember him;
Oh my soul, my tongue, remember him
Do not be absent from remembrance of him, lest you both fail.
Do not absent his remembrance and fail

His remembrance has already preceded my remembrance;
Remembrance of him preceded remembrance from me
Many a matter I have seen reversed.
Many things I have seen reversed

And when you truly discern, the rememberer is the remembered;
And when you realize the rememberer and the remembered
So look, and you will find it a wondrous secret.
Look, and you’ll find it a wondrous mystery

بِشَفِيعِيwith my intercessor لكلِّfor every داءٍailment طبيباَas a physician
And I seek refuge in the best of creation; sufficient for me
And in the best of creations is my bond and pride
Is my intercessor, a physician for every ailment.
My intercessor, the healer of every malady

So may blessings be upon him, then peace,
So prayer upon him, then peace
Both filling heaven and earth with fragrance.
Fill the heavens and earth with goodness.
