ما حيوانٌ مالَهُ من حرمه
إذاif اسمُهُits name صُحِّفَis altered in its dots فابنthen the son of العمَهthe paternal aunt
إذا اسمُهُ صُحِّفَ فابن العمَه
What animal has no inviolability,
No beast has sanctity if its name be changed
whose name, if its dots are altered, becomes a paternal aunt's son,
Though it be cousin to the camel or its uncle
وقلبُهand its reversal بعدafter تصحيفٍan alteration of dots لهto it
وقلبُه بعد تصحيفٍ له
يريكshows you فيin الذّكرthe Reminder الحكيمthe wise أمَّهits mother
يريك في الذّكر الحكيم أمَّه
and whose name, reversed after that alteration,
And if after distortion, it still be the same
shows you its mother in the Wise Reminder?
The Wise Book shows you clearly it's a she-camel.
