فكان أول ما بادرتُ في صِغَرِي

Thus, the first thing I hastened to in my childhood

When I was young, the first thing I undertook

Was to study God's Book diligently.

Was to study God's book with dedication

فلم أزل أعمُر الأوقاتَ منه بما

فلم أزل أعمُر الأوقاتَ منه بما

يفوز من رَاحَ في تَحصِيلِهِ وغدا

يفوز من رَاحَ في تَحصِيلِهِ وغدا

So I have never ceased to fill my hours with what it contains,

I have always spent my time with it, gaining

By which whoever seeks it evening and morning prospers.

What brings success to those who seek knowledge by day

فطاب مطعمه إذ رَدَّتُهُ بفمي

فطاب مطعمه إذ رَدَّتُهُ بفمي

وأشرَقَ القلبُ إذ أودعته الخلدا

وأشرَقَ القلبُ إذ أودعته الخلدا

Its taste grew sweet when I repeated it with my mouth,

Its taste was sweet when I recited it with my mouth

And my heart shone when I lodged it in my mind.

My heart shone when I memorized it forever

وقد ظَفِرتُ بحفظٍ منه أحكمه

وقد ظَفِرتُ بحفظٍ منه أحكمه

حفظي وقرَّبَ لِي مِنهُ مَدَى بَعُدا

حفظي وقرَّبَ لِي مِنهُ مَدَى بَعُدا

And I have gained a portion of it by heart, made firm

I succeeded in memorizing it perfectly

By my memory, which brought its distant goal within reach.

My memorization brought its distant meaning closer

وعن قريبٍ بحول الله أختِمَهُ

وعن قريبٍ بحول الله أختِمَهُ

مستوهبِاً منه يوم النَّشرِ ما وَعَدَا

مستوهبِاً منه يوم النَّشرِ ما وَعَدَا

And soon, by God's power, I shall complete it,

Soon, God willing, I will complete it

Seeking from Him, on the Day of Resurrection, what He promised,

Seeking from Him what He promised on Resurrection Day

حتى أتوِّجَ تاجَ العِزِّ يومئذٍ

حتى أتوِّجَ تاجَ العِزِّ يومئذٍ

وأشفعَ في أهلِي كَمَا وَرَدَا

وأشفعَ في أهلِي كَمَا وَرَدَا

So that I may be crowned with the crown of honor that day,

So I may be crowned with the crown of honor that day

And intercede for my family, as has been related.
