فإن تكن في الغزو دانية

فإن تكن في الغزو دانية

وفرس ترضى بها مركبا

So if it is near at hand during the raid,

and a horse you are content to take as a mount,

فأقدم وغلا فاتخذ مذهباً

في الأرض شرقاً واهجر المغربا

then advance, and [unclear wording]; then take a path

eastward through the land, and forsake the West.

أقدم وإلا فاتخذ مذهباً

بذلت فيها نصحك الأوجبا

بذلت فيها نصحك الأوجبا

Advance; otherwise, take a path.

In it I have offered you the most necessary counsel.
