صلَّىmay bless عليكَupon you اللهGod ياO قطبَpole العُلَىsublimity
صلَّى عليكَ الله يا قطبَ العُلَى
وإمَامَand leader رسلِmessengers اللهGod خيرَthe finest صلاةِblessing
وإمَامَ رسلِ الله خيرَ صلاةِ
May God bless you, O pole of sublimity,
May Allah send blessings upon you, O pole of the highest rank,
And leader of God's messengers, with the finest blessing;
And leader of Allah's messengers, with the best salutations.
وعلىand upon المصابيحِthe lamps المنيرةِshining فيin الدُّجَىthe darkness
وعلى المصابيحِ المنيرةِ في الدُّجَى
والمتَّقينand those who fear اللهَGod حقَّthe due measure of تُقاةِreverence
والمتَّقين اللهَ حقَّ تُقاةِ
And upon the lamps that shine in the darkness,
And upon the illuminating lamps in the darkness,
And those who fear God as He should be feared.
And those who truly fear Allah as piety necessitates.
أصحابُكَyour companions الخَلفاءًthe caliphs أعيانُthe foremost الوَرَىhumankind
أصحابُكَ الخَلفاءً أعيانُ الوَرَى
وولاتُكَand your governors الأعلامُthe illustrious أيِّwhat ولاةِgovernors
وولاتُكَ الأعلامُ أيِّ ولاةِ
Your companions, the caliphs, are the foremost of humankind,
Your companions, the caliphs, are the notables of existence,
And your illustrious governors—what governors they are!
And your representatives, the flags—what excellent deputies!
فكبيرُهُمso their chief وإمامُهُمand their leader صِدِّيقُهُمtheir Truthful One
فكبيرُهُم وإمامُهُم صِدِّيقُهُم
فهوfor he الذيthe one who واساكsupported you فيin الأزماتِthe crises
فهو الذي واساك في الأزماتِ
So their chief and leader is their Truthful One;
Among them the greatest, their imam and their confidant,
For he is the one who stood by you in times of crisis.
Is Siddeeq, who supported you in calamities.
وُمُعِزُّand the strengthener of دينreligion اللهGod فارُوقُdiscerner of right from wrong الهُدىguidance
وُمُعِزُّ دين الله فارُوقُ الهُدى
عُمَرٌʿUmar وحَسبُكand sufficient for you صادقُsteadfast العزماتِresolves
عُمَرٌ وحَسبُك صادقُ العزماتِ
And the strengthener of God's religion, the Faruq of guidance:
The strengthener of Allah's religion is Farooq, guide of righteousness,
ʿUmar—and he suffices you, steadfast in his resolve.
Umar—and your resolve is enough, o sincere one.
والقانتand the devout one الأوابُthe oft-returning to God عثمانُʿUthman الرِّضَاthe well-pleasing one
والقانت الأوابُ عثمانُ الرِّضَا
شيخُmaster التّقىpiety والصدقand truthfulness والأخباتِand humble submission
شيخُ التّقى والصدق والأخباتِ
And devout, ever-returning ʿUthman, the well-pleasing,
The devout, repentant Uthman of acceptance,
A master of piety, truthfulness, and humble submission.
Elder of piety, truthfulness, and good traits.
وعليهمand their ʿAli جَمَعَunited الفضائِلَthe virtues كُلَّهَاall of them
وعليهم جَمَعَ الفضائِلَ كُلَّهَا
بنجارهِin his lineage وخِلالِهِand his character traits والذاتِand the very nature
بنجارهِ وخِلالِهِ والذاتِ
And their ʿAli united all the virtues,
And upon them together are all the virtues combined,
In his lineage, his character, and his very nature.
In his carpentry, his nature, and his being.
علمُa banner الهدايةِguidance والشجاعةِand courage والنَّدَىand generosity
علمُ الهدايةِ والشجاعةِ والنَّدَى
ومطلقand one who divorces الدنياthis world طلاقَa divorce بتاتِirrevocable severance
ومطلق الدنيا طلاقَ بتاتِ
A banner of guidance, courage, and generosity,
Knowledge of guidance, courage, brilliance,
And one who divorced this world with an irrevocable divorce.
And freely leaving worldly matters decisively.
وعلىand upon جميعِall الأهلthe family والصَّحبِand the companions الألَىthose who
وعلى جميعِ الأهل والصَّحبِ الألَى
حُبِّيmy love لهمfor them ذُخرٌa treasure ليومِfor the day of وفاتِيmy death
حُبِّي لهم ذُخرٌ ليومِ وفاتِي
And upon all the family and companions,
And upon all the household and companions,
My love for whom is a treasure for the day of my death.
My love for them is a treasure for the day I die.
