لا أنس ليلة أنسٍ قد سمحت بها

لا أنس ليلة أنسٍ قد سمحت بها

فَكُلُّ ذنبٍ بها للدهر مغفورُ

فَكُلُّ ذنبٍ بها للدهر مغفورُ

I shall never forget a night of delight that was generously granted,

I shall not forget a night of delight you so generously bestowed;

for on its account every sin of Time is forgiven.

For, thanks to it, every offense of time is forgiven.

قضيتُ فيها حقوق الحبِّ وافيةً

قضيتُ فيها حقوق الحبِّ وافيةً

فكل ما أمّلته النفسُ ميسورُ

فكل ما أمّلته النفسُ ميسورُ

In it I fulfilled the claims of love in full,

During it I fulfilled love’s dues in full;

and everything the soul had hoped for was within easy reach.

So all that the soul had hoped for was within reach.
