ومأمومٍ بهِ عُرِفَ الإمَامُ

ومأمومٍ بهِ عُرِفَ الإمَامُ

كما باهت بصحبته الكرامُ

كما باهت بصحبته الكرامُ

And a follower through whom the imam was known,

The imam is known by the one who prays behind him

Just as the noble took pride in his company.

Just as the generous are distinguished by his company

له إذ يرتوي طَيشَانُ صَادٍ

له إذ يرتوي طَيشَانُ صَادٍ

ويسكنُ حين يعروهُ الأوامُ

ويسكنُ حين يعروهُ الأوامُ

When he drinks his fill, he has a thirsty man's restlessness,

When he is watered, the wanderings of hunters are calmed

And grows still when burning thirst overtakes him.

And settled when the blames afflict him

ويذري حين يستسقي دموعاً

ويذري حين يستسقي دموعاً

يرقن كما يروقُ الابتسامُ

يرقن كما يروقُ الابتسامُ

And when he asks for water, he sheds tears

And sheds tears when he implores

That delight, just as a smile delights.

That soothe like a smile
