يا أيها الولدُ النجيبُ افخر عَلَى
أبناءِthe sons of عصركِyour age راقياًascending رتبthe ranks of العُلَىeminence
أبناءِ عصركِ راقياً رتب العُلَى
O gifted son, boast over
O noble son, take pride over
the sons of your age, ascending the ranks of eminence.
The eminent of your time, climbing to glory's peak.
وردَتarrived عليَّto me بطاقةٌa note مُوشيَةٌembroidered
وردَت عليَّ بطاقةٌ مُوشيَةٌ
ببدائعwith marvels للنّظمِof verse رائقةِexquisite الحلاsweetness
ببدائع للنّظمِ رائقةِ الحلا
A note has reached me, embroidered
A card of fine calligraphy came to me
with marvels of verse, exquisite in their sweetness.
With excellent poems, refined and eloquent.
