And you returned with the army whose tales
You returned in an army whose stories
of its splendid marvels are recounted as true.
Of wonders are narrated as true tales

Lions, mighty lions, astride horses that hurtle
A lion with claws atop galloping horses
toward the enemy, sweeping rightward and leftward;
Charging at the enemy fiercely with might

flying with armored riders, you imagine them
A hawk among armored soldiers it seems
swooping on the day of battle like birds of prey.
Swooping down on the day of battle in flight

يَلقَى العدوَّ مُمَاسِيا ومصابحا
Each a man who has made the spears his thicket,
Whoever takes the spear as a disgrace
meeting the enemy at evening and at dawn.
Will meet the foe stumbling in the light

And the sun sparked the sword when
its rays met the iron strewn about.
Its rays met the clashing steel shining bright
