أمَّا الصِيامُ فقد عَظَّمتَ حُرمَتَهُ

بقلبٍ لا غافلٍ عَنهُ ولا وانِ

بقلبٍ لا غافلٍ عَنهُ ولا وانِ

As for fasting, you have indeed honored its sanctity,

You have honored the sanctity of fasting

With a heart neither heedless of it nor lax,

With an attentive heart, never negligent or heedless.

صَوماً وصَوناً فلا لَغوٌ ولاَ رَفَثٌ

صَوماً وصَوناً فلا لَغوٌ ولاَ رَفَثٌ

فَرضاً وَنَفلاً وَتَرتِيلاً لقرآنِ

فَرضاً وَنَفلاً وَتَرتِيلاً لقرآنِ

Through fasting and self-restraint, with neither idle talk nor lewdness,

Fasting from food, gossip and impurity-

In obligatory and voluntary observance, and measured recitation of the Qur’an.
