ياO سيديmy lord صفحُكyour pardon المرجّىhoped for
يا سيدي صفحُك المرجّى
فاسمَحso pardon لمنto the one who فاتَهُit eluded him البكورُthe early start
فاسمَح لمن فاتَهُ البكورُ
O my lord, your pardon is hoped for.
O my master, your forgiveness is hoped for
So pardon the one who missed the early start.
So forgive those who missed the dawn
واغضand avert your gaze عنهfrom him قلاunclear as written; likely 'so not' (فلا) يَنَلهُreach him
واغض عنه قلا يَنَلهُ
منكَfrom you لتفريطِهِfor his negligence نكيرُrebuke
منكَ لتفريطِهِ نكيرُ
And overlook his fault, so that he receives no
And overlook their mistakes
Rebuke from you for his negligence.
Lest your rebuke befalls them
أبقاكَmay He preserve you رَبِّيmy Lord تُقِيمُyou uphold رَسماًa tradition
أبقاكَ رَبِّي تُقِيمُ رَسماً
ماnot هوit إلاّexcept هدىًguidance ونورُand light
ما هو إلاّ هدىً ونورُ
May my Lord preserve you, upholding a tradition
May my Lord keep you establishing a tradition
That is nothing but guidance and light.
