قد لاح لي باكراً في ثوبِ بذلتهِ
When I drank my morning wine, while revelry’s eye watched me,

لماwhen تخلصhe was freed منfrom مكروهِthe distress علتهِof his illness

I called out to Fatḥ and brought the wine glad tidings of him,
I called out for openness and gave good tidings of it to the wine
when he was freed from the distress of his illness.
When it gets rid of the hated state of its ailment

إذا رآه امرؤٌ ضداً لنحلته
A young man’s defense of wine’s sanctuary is a noble deed,
The chivalry of the young man in guarding the sanctity of comfort is an honor
when a man regards him as an opponent of his creed.
When a man sees it as contrary to his nature

So hasten to us, and bring us joy without delay,
So hurry to us and hasten joy for us
and catch Time unawares in its moments of inattention.
And take advantage of the times of inattention of fate
