Surra Man Ra is more delightful than Baghdad.
Delights my soul who from Baghdad I delight
So turn away from some of your customary talk of her.
Taking my mind off it has become a plight

How lovely is her hunting ground, which is not devoid
A playground for her would be a delight
at any time of quarry and the chase.
Ever filled with prey for the chase and fight

And gardens, as though the flowers had spread
Gardens where flowers seem to have spread
over them richly patterned cloaks.
The ink of perfumes on each blade so bright

And remember the lofty lookout, looking down from the hill
Remember the hill overlooking all
over those leaving the water and those coming to drink.

And when the herdsmen return at evening, do not forget
When the shepherds leave do not forget
the shepherdesses tending the calves of [the children?—final word unclear].
The meadows where carefree children alight
