خلِّleave اللعينَthe accursed one وماand what اكتسبhe earned
خلِّ اللعينَ وما اكتسب
لاmay he not زالcease to be منقطعَcut off from السببties
لا زال منقطعَ السبب
Leave the accursed one and what he has earned.
Leave the accursed one and what he has gained
May he remain forever cut off from all ties.
His cause remains severed
ياO عُرَّةَdisgrace of الثقلينِhumans and jinn لاneither
يا عُرَّةَ الثقلينِ لا
دِيناًfaith رعيتَyou honored ولاnor حسبnoble lineage
دِيناً رعيتَ ولا حسب
O disgrace of humans and jinn! Neither
O burden of two sins, neither
faith nor noble lineage have you honored.
Religion have you shepherded, nor lineage preserved
حسدُenvy of الإمامthe Imam مكانهhis station
حسدُ الإمام مكانه
جهلاًin ignorance حذاكdrove you علىto العطبruin
جهلاً حذاك على العطب
Envy of the Imam for his station
Envy of the imam in his place
drove you, in ignorance, to ruin.
Has foolishly led you to ruin
وأبوكand your father قدَّمهhe put him forward لهاfor it
وأبوك قدَّمه لها
لماwhen تخيرhe chose وانتخبand he selected
لما تخير وانتخب
And your father put him forward for it
And your father presented it to him
when he chose and made his selection.
When he had the choice and selected
ماnot تستطيعُyou can سوىexcept
ما تستطيعُ سوى
التنفسِbreathing والتجرعِand swallowing للكربof anguish
التنفسِ والتجرعِ للكرب
You can do nothing but
You cannot do anything except
breathe and swallow anguish.
Breathe and swallow bitterness
ماnot زلتyou ceased to be عندin the eyes of أبيكyour father منتقصَdeficient in
ما زلت عند أبيك منتقصَ
المروءةِnobility of character والأدبand good manners
المروءةِ والأدب
In your father's eyes, you have always been deficient
You still lack with your father
in nobility of character and good manners.
