كقُبحكlike your ugliness ياO حاتمٌHatim مقبِلاapproaching
Abū Ja‘far’s love for the boy
Abu Ja‘far’s love of evening drinking
is like your ugliness, Hatim, as you approach.
Is like your ugliness, O Hatim, as you approach.
فلاso not ذاكthat one يُعذَرُis excused فيfor فعلهhis deed
وحقُّكand your due فيamong الناسpeople أنthat تُقتلاyou be killed
That man is not excused for his deed,
So he is not excused for his deed,
and your due among men is to be killed.
And your due among people is to be killed.

And the thing most like what he chose
And the thing most like what he chose
is your farting before reaching the privy, amid the crowd.
Is your farting in company rather than in the privy.
