Do you not see a steady rain pouring down?

And here is your morning approaching.

And there is the wine; our longing has been stirred

By the sight of the dark-eyed young gazelle.

So intoxication returned to him and to us,

Making what we ask less unwelcome.

For I caught a glance from him

That tells me he will act.

    فيا حبذا عيشنا المُشكِلُ

    And life has grown perplexing in our day;

And oh, how delightful our perplexing life!

    Listen, O dark-eyed young gazelle:

How long will you speak and not act?

How long will you give freely what we do not want

From you, and withhold what we ask?
