And a slender youth with honeyed lips—I imagined him
with a wine-presser at work within his cheeks.

His wine flows into his sweet mouth,
pure nectar over which ages have passed.

Then his frame grows drunk on it,

As though the prince of sleep loved his eyelids:
whenever he tries to lift them, his eye sockets resist him.

I made my palm his pillow, and he spent the night embracing me,
until dawn's light appeared, unveiled.

Then he rose, trailing his cloak in chastity,
and I rose; no loincloths had been loosened for sin.

Such is the sweetest love: that whose loins remain
chaste, and a union that no sins have sullied.
