The season’s beauty has bestowed favor and done good,
The time was gracious, and graciously we lived,
And calamities have feigned heedlessness of you, so you might take heed.
Far from the sorrows you felt we drifted.

And do you not see spring’s striped mantle,
Do you not see the soft spring breeze
Enchanting the eyes with what is beheld and what is plucked?
Moistening eyes with our wine and song?

And the iris, with its fragrant bosoms,
The lilies breathe their fragrances
Was fashioned into tongues of pure-white camphor,
Into robes of camphor-white fineness.

Encircling shavings of gold laid bare;
Tiny leaves grace the slender boughs
Short spears bore them aloft from it.
And seem like camphor beads thereon.

Thus its petals and the iris itself resemble, respectively,
You'd think them pearls just lightly strung
Bright swords drawn to slay, and an offender who has done wrong.
To slay the souls of delicate maids.
