bringing him death without resurrection.

اذا لم اقل إلا براح وراحة

فما قدر ذنبي في اغتفار قدير

If I speak of nothing but wine and repose,

If I do not say except with comfort and tranquility

then what weight has my sin beside the Almighty’s forgiveness?

Then how can my sin be in the forgiveness of the Almighty

ساقعد عن ناهي النهى في اجتنابها

I shall disregard reason’s command to shun her,

I will refrain from forbidden desires

even if a false witness stands at my temples.

Is life anything but kissing her lips

Is life anything but to accept her mouth

and listening to a husky bass string and a treble string?

And listen to the bamboo, how it creaks and moans

خبرت بين الايام شرقاً ومغرباً
