ألاَ إِنَّ هِنداً أصبَحَت مِنكَ مَحرَمَا

ألاَ إِنَّ هِنداً أصبَحَت مِنكَ مَحرَمَا

وأَصبَحتَ مِن أَدنَى حُمُوَّتِها حَما

وأَصبَحتَ مِن أَدنَى حُمُوَّتِها حَما

Lo, Hind has indeed become forbidden to you in marriage;

Alas! India has become forbidden to you

and you have become one of her nearest in-laws.

And you have become among the lowest of its defenders

فأصبحتَ كالمقَمور جَفنَ سِلاحِه

فأصبحتَ كالمقَمور جَفنَ سِلاحِه

يُقَلِّبُ بِالكَفَّينِ قَوساً وأَسهُمَا

يُقَلِّبُ بِالكَفَّينِ قَوساً وأَسهُمَا

So you have become like one who lost his weapon-case at gambling,

So you have become like one subdued, whose weapons

turning a bow and arrows over in both hands.
