مِنfrom ذِكِرremembering خَودٍa tender maiden كَريمَةِnoble in الحَسَبِlineage
Long has my yearning lasted, and my rapture has returned,
From remembering a tender maiden of noble lineage:
غَرّاءُradiant مِثلُlike الهِلاَلِthe crescent moon صُورَتُهits form
أَوor مِثلlike تمثالِa figure صُورَةِan image الرُّهُبِthe monks
Radiant, like the crescent moon in form,
Or like a figure in the monks’ icon.
