ياO منyou who إليهto whom المشتكىthe complaint
يا من إليه المشتكى
فيin كلّevery نائبةٍcalamity تلوحُlooms
في كلّ نائبةٍ تلوحُ
O you to whom complaints are brought
O you to whom complaints are made
Whenever a calamity looms.
In every adversity that appears
ذاthis النّاصرُal-Nasir (the helper) المخذولُthe forsaken one طوbeginning of 'throughout'
ذا النّاصرُ المخذولُ طو
لَcompletion of 'throughout' زمانِهhis lifetime نِضْوٌan emaciated mount طَليحُexhausted
لَ زمانِه نِضْوٌ طَليحُ
This forsaken al-Nasir, through—
This victorious one left so long
—out his life, is a gaunt, exhausted mount.
His time is misery prolonged
ماnot إنْreinforces the negation يبِلُّhe recovers فيستريso he rests (word continues)
ما إنْ يبِلُّ فيستري
حُcompletion of 'so he rests' ولاnor يموتُhe dies فيستريحُso he rests
حُ ولا يموتُ فيستريحُ
He never recovers to find re—
He does not wither that he may rest
—lief, nor dies to find relief.
Nor die that he may have repose
