إنّindeed عنديwith me للمُعينfor al-Muʿīn يداًa kindness (literally, a hand)
ماas long as حَييتُI live الدّهرَthroughout life أشكرُهاI give thanks for it
Indeed, al-Muʿīn has done me a kindness,
I have for the helper, a hand
for which I shall always give thanks as long as I live.
That as long as I live, I thank
صانَنيhe spared me عنfrom أنthat تكونَthere should be لهfor him
منّةa favor imposing obligation عنديupon me أحبِّرُهاI praise it in ornate words
He spared me from owing him
It protected me from having
a favor I would praise in ornate words.
A favor upon me that I feel indebted
فأناso I ماas long as عشتُI live أعرِفُهاI acknowledge it
أبداًalways منfrom حيثُwhere أنكِرُهاI deny it
So, as long as I live, I acknowledge it,
So as long as I live, I acknowledge it
always, through my very denial of it.
Always, though at times I may deny it
